Dalmor Notebook
01 — Standards

Editorial Standards.

Dalmor Notebook operates under documented editorial principles. This page sets out how articles are sourced, drafted, reviewed, and corrected. It also describes how reader submissions are handled and what standards govern the use of third-party sources. These principles are published publicly and applied consistently.

02 — Principles

How the Publication is Governed.

Dalmor Notebook operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

The publication is independent. It is not affiliated with any fitness brand, supplement manufacturer, equipment supplier, gym chain, or commercial organisation of any kind. This independence is structural, not aspirational — the publication carries no advertising and accepts no sponsored content.

The editorial team consists of two permanent editors and a roster of occasional contributors. All contributors are asked to complete a brief disclosure form identifying any commercial relationship, personal advocacy position, or involvement with a fitness programme or brand that might influence their choice of subject or framing. These disclosures are held on file and reviewed before publication.

The publication covers everyday movement for beginners. It does not assess, evaluate, or adjudicate on specific fitness brands or commercial programmes. Readers seeking information specific to their own circumstances are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

03 — Process

The Article Process, Step by Step.

01

Topic Selection

Topics are drawn from reader correspondence, gaps observed in available beginner fitness coverage, and questions that arise from the editorial team's own documented practice. Each topic must be answerable from observation and published sources.

02

Primary Research

The writer collects reader movement journal submissions relevant to the topic and reviews available published exercise science. Sources are logged at draft stage. Third-party claims require a verifiable published source before inclusion.

03

First Draft

The first draft is produced in the publication's documentary-factual register. It prioritises observation over directive. Any passage that approaches the prescriptive is reviewed carefully at editorial stage.

04

Editorial Review

A second editor reviews the draft against the standards on this page. The review checks factual accuracy, register, source documentation, and disclosure status. Articles are not published until the review is complete and any required changes are made.

05

Publication

Published articles are dated. The publication date, author, and any relevant disclosures are visible. Once published, the article enters the correction-eligible archive and is subject to the corrections procedure below.

06

Corrections

Substantiated corrections are logged publicly at the foot of the relevant article. The correction record states the original claim, the correction, and the date of the change. Corrections are not deleted from the record.

04 — Sources

How Sources Are Handled.

The publication distinguishes between three categories of source: published exercise science (peer-reviewed or otherwise published in a verifiable form), reader-submitted movement records (first-hand accounts collected from readers), and editorial observation (the team's own documented practice).

Each category carries a different weight. Published research is used to contextualise observations and to provide quantitative reference points. Reader records are the primary observational material. Editorial observation is presented as such, not as generalised instruction.

Published Research

Exercise science published in academic journals, public health reports, or widely cited fitness literature. Sources are named in articles where they are cited. The publication does not reproduce copyrighted material beyond brief quotation.

Reader Submissions

Movement journals, training logs, and personal accounts submitted by readers. All submissions are anonymised before use unless the reader has given explicit written consent to attribution. Submissions are stored securely and not shared with third parties.

Editorial Observation

Observations from the team's own documented practice. These are presented in the first person or clearly attributed to the publication. They are not generalised into instruction and are not presented as universally applicable.

Excluded Sources

Unverifiable online content, anonymous testimonials presented as evidence, commercial product claims, and single-source claims that have not been corroborated. The publication does not cite social media posts as evidence.

05 — Reader Data

Reader Submissions: What Happens to Your Data.

Collection

Movement journals and training records submitted to the publication are collected via email or the contact form. The submission is stored securely in the editorial archive. No personal data beyond what the reader chooses to include in their submission is collected at this stage.

Anonymisation

Before any submitted material is incorporated into an article, personally identifying details — name, location, employer, specific dates that could identify an individual — are removed. The anonymised record is then reviewed editorially and, if selected for inclusion, presented without attribution unless explicit written consent has been given.

Retention

Submitted records are retained in the editorial archive for a period of two years from the date of submission. After that period, records that have not been incorporated into any published article are deleted. Records used in articles are retained for the life of the article.

Withdrawal

Readers may request withdrawal of their submission at any time before publication by writing to [email protected]. If a submission has already been incorporated into a published article in anonymised form, withdrawal of the source does not require removal of the anonymised content.
